Wednesday March 22nd 2017, Prof. Charity Hudley will present The Racialization of African-American English: Insights from Linguistics & Psychology at Brown University, location and time to be determined.

Thursday April, 6, 2017, Prof. Charity Hudley will give the keynote address  at the 2nd annual Research and Creative Inquiry Expo sponsored by the Virginia Union University Center for Undergraduate Research.

Friday May 12th, 2017, Prof. Charity Hudley will present to the faculty at J. Sergeant Reynolds Honors College

Thursday June 8-Friday June 9th, 2017, Prof. Charity Hudley, Prof. Dickter, and Prof. Franz  will host the Third Annual WMSURE Faculty Conference.

All faculty from Virginia are invited to apply. Please send a one page letter of interest and your complete CV to ahchar@wm.edu. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the conference has reached our capacity of 50 participants.

Wednesday July 5-Tuesday August 1st, Prof. Charity Hudley will teach language and education at the 2017 Linguistic Institute at the University of Kentucky.

In fall of 2017, Prof. Charity Hudley will present as part of the University of California, Berkeley Linguistics Colloquium Series.

Past Events:

February 19th 2017, Prof. Charity Hudley and Prof. Christine Mallinson co-organized the symposium, “Leveraging Linguistics to Broaden Participation in STEM,”to held at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) to be held in Boston, MA. We will be joined on the panel by Mary Bucholtz (UCSB) and Michel DeGraff (MIT). Anne will present on “Educator Linguistic Ideology about African-American English in STEM Contexts,” and Christine will serve as discussant, speaking on the topic “Integrating Linguistics into STEM Education: Innovative Approaches in Translational Science.”

Tuesday March 7, 2017 3:30-5pm, Prof. Charity Hudley  presented Represent! Underrepresented Scholars in Undergraduate Research at the ONDAS Student Center, 1150 Kerr Hall at the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Wednesday March 8, 2017 3:30-5pm, Prof. Charity Hudley  presented Engaging Underrepresented Students in Undergraduate Research at the ONDAS Student Center, 1150 Kerr Hall at the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Saturday March 11, 2017, Prof. Charity Hudley worked with educators at Southern University.

Monday, January 23, 2017, Prof. Charity Hudley worked with faculty at the University of Richmond.
